✨ Description There’s a certain presence to early electric clocks—steady, grounded, and quietly enduring—and this 1920s Telechron Model 503 Gothic mantel clock captures that feeling beautifully. Crafted by the Warren Telechron Company in Ashland, Massachusetts, it reflects a time when innovation met design, bringing dependable electric timekeeping into American homes. This example carries its history proudly, with a serial number faceplate reading No. 137195 and fitted with the sought-after Type B-2 Telechron motor. The back plate references early patents (Oct. 29, 1918 and Oct. 3, 1922), tying it directly to the foundational years of Telechron’s pioneering synchronous motor technology. The “Gothic” form gives it a strong architectural presence—arched, balanced, and substantial—while the aged metal case shows an authentic patina with paint loss and wear that speaks to decades of use. The dial remains classic and legible, complete with a sweeping second hand that adds subtle movement and life. This isn’t just a clock—it’s a piece of early American electrical engineering history, where form, function, and innovation came together in a way that still resonates today. 📏 Details • Maker: Warren Telechron Company • Model: 503 “Gothic” Mantel Clock • Serial Number: No. 137195 (faceplate) • Motor: Type B-2 Telechron • Patent Dates: Oct. 29, 1918 & Oct. 3, 1922 • Era: 1920s • Type: Electric Mantel Clock (plug-in) • Features: Continuous second hand • Origin: Ashland, Massachusetts, USA • Material: Metal housing with glass face • Condition: Vintage condition with visible wear, patina, and paint loss consistent with age. • Functionality: Time keeping tested & is in working condition. • Approx.
